love.  how did i not know about this designer before??  i'm ashamed.  i love tall shoes--i'm only 5'2", so they put me at a level to converse with the general population.  and not only are these super tall, but the print!  just fabulous.  love love love.  please visit zanotti online.  the shoes are just amazing.  zanotti's style is described as "naïf and rock ‘n’ roll"--mix that with some fine italian craftsmanship and a hint of gaga and you've got yourself some kick-ass shoes.

give credit where credit is due

my mother has been telling me for years that military is in.  she loves the classic ralph lauren military buttons and tailoring, and for so many years i avoided the style.  now i have to give credit where credit is due: she was right all along.  not only is military in style now, but it's been in style for years and will probably remain a staple of American style in general (if i might say so).

isn't the detail insane?  these are absolutely gorgeous; however, these louboutin's are definitely not the shoes sitting underneath my bed that inspired me to write this post. i bought a $25 pair of similar booties from marshall's with my mom and promised her i'd wear them and that they were indeed a worthwhile purchase.  not only have they become my statement shoes for going out, but they were the perfect compliment to my caution tape ensemble for none other than lady gaga.

you're not gonna reach my telephone in this outfit.  

oh and yes, those are real newport cigarettes; and no, you can't have one.

little dictionary of fashion

call me a sucker for little books, but come on, this is just adorable.  despite the fact i'm a terrible reader, i just can't help myself when it comes to kitschy little books like these.  i'm so fascinated by fashion, i just wish i had more time to sit down and learn about it.  (new year's resolution, anyone?)  check out shopbop.com's holiday gift guide--they have some really great fashion books (some of which are designer and affordable.  can't beat that!)

i know it's the most wonderful time of the year when the grocery store puts up lights and i find the bloomindale's winter catalogue on the counter at home.  i'm in love.  marc jacobs is going to take over the world one day, and it's because of his amazingly cute and affordable (amazing!!!) accessories and gifts.  go online and click on the ornament with marc by marc jacobs.  tell me you don't want everything.

animal print

so for some reason lately i've been looking for inspiration in all sorts of places, to get me through these never-ending midterm weeks from hell.  i've found a new perspective on life that i've just been so eager to share.  i don't quite know how to quantify it but immediately florence + the machine's "dog days are over" (no relation to eat, pray, love; i haven't seen it) and animal print come to mind.  there's just something about animal print that makes me feel like a boss.  sort of like walking around with a cup of black coffee and actually being able to say you enjoy it.  (my friends know i compare my life to coffee way too much for any self-respecting, healthy individual).  on any given day, i'm usually wearing my color-changing mood peace sign watch (more to come on that bad boy) on my left wrist or my marc jacobs leopard print cuff.  usually only those two things along with my beloved pandora bracelet.  i'm always looking to add to my collection of printed goods.  if only i could get my hands on these, who knows what sort of power trip i might end up on...

i've seen these pictured in teenvogue, nycshoebox, and weardrobe to name a few places.  now the only place i want to see them is on my feet.  i'm pretty sure they were only around summer-fall 2009 at topshop, but if anyone has any information on the whearabouts of these beauties, please let me know. i'm a size 7 and dying to get my paws on a pair of them.

i'm absolutely head over heals for this madewell shirt.  unfortunately, it's dry clean only, which doesn't exactly fit my low-budget-college-student-failure-on-the-laundry-front lifestyle.  i tried it on a few weeks ago in the heather pebble and loved how versatile the completely zippable sleeves were.  i particularly liked it with a boatneck, below.  just make sure the zips on each side are even.  the shirt runs for about $48, which is perfectly reasonable if it didn't have to be dry cleaned after every time i wore it out.

if i could i would love to wear it like this model above.  i prefer it with leggings and boots (heels, anyone?) for a dressier look or maybe even flats, but this is a perfect way to dress it down.  jeans would be too heavy i imagine, but maybe jeggings (that's right, i said it-jeggings) in a dark denim would work.

to be fair...

with all of my excitement bubbling over at the start of this new adventure, i had to tell someone, and in order for him to consider my blog "cool" i was told i have to feature two things.

everyone should have at least one nice pair of jeans.  it doesn't matter where they're from, just one pair that fits well and that you feel amazing in.  for me, that's my true religion jeans.  just the basic, classic style that my amazing mother found for an unbelievable price with the help of her friend the denim specialist at bloomingdale's.  these scotch&soda jeans are from saks fifth avenue, and are truly just beautiful.  the wash is dark and detailed and in person they're a different color denim than i've ever seen before.  you can just tell they're a nice pair of jeans.  the whiskering on the legs falls perfectly, giving them a natural but sophisticated look.  plus, they say scotch, soda, and amsterdam on the back.  who doesn't find that cool?  check out their website: scotch&soda amsterdam couture.  think hipsters meet abercrombie and fitch on the cobblestone side alleys of amsterdam.  (i've never been to amsterdam, but i imagine if i do go to amsterdam, it'll look something like those pictures on the i-am-sterdam commercials.  to be honest the clothes kind of reminded me of the cobblestone streets in old montreal...and who doesn't love canada, eh?)

these were the other requirement for my posting.  northern lights nike sb's.  went all the way from philadelphia to nyc's flight club via septa, nj transit, and the beloved path train just to get my boyfriend's christmas present.  it was worth it though.  sweet kicks!  definitely more to come from the world of nike.

shoes

i think this is where my first inspiration hit me.  i'm from new jersey, so my love for anything animal print is a given.  i can't help it.  these were in nordstrom's, maybe four, five years ago?  no matter how many times mom and dad said no in short hills mall, i couldn't stop going over to try them on.  (the joy of having a small shoe size-every sample on the floor is a perfect fit.  or maybe that's a curse?)  needless to say, i do not own them.  but one day i will find them again and they will be mine.
